GBTG Coach Drive qualifies 40 new female coaches in 2009!
The GB Tennis Girls Coach Drive aims to redress the imbalance of male to female coaches in the UK by promoting the coaching career path to females.
In partnership with the RPT, GBTG made an impressive start late last year by running five courses in different venues around the south-east. More than forty new female coaches, as well as many male coaches, achieved qualifications under the tutorage of the GBTG team of former pro players.
There are three levels of qualification available, depending on the candidate's aspirations in coaching. The Nike Community Coach Course, Mark of a Pro, and Mark of a Pro Plus cover all aspects of tennis in increasing complexity, and candidates are given specific feedback in the teaching of each skill to female pupils.
The Nike Community Course is open to candidates of any ability. So far we have had tennis parents wanting to learn more about their child's sport, PE teachers wishing to widen their knowledge base, players wanting to learn the mechanics of the sport they love, and, of course, those wishing to graduate towards further qualifications in tennis.
Many of these places were subsidised through sponsorship and GBTG are currently looking to secure more funds. The current cost, without sponsorship., is £75 for three full days of tuition.
There are plans to hold more courses around the country, and if you are interested please contact vdavies@gbtennisgirls.com
